plus we kept our lb core and improved our passing game passing game generally doesn't improve your defense. Although that might make them look better because Flutie was awful. And yup, as I said, great LB group and a great FS.

Okay, I kinda forgot about Schust but he isn't exactly superman, but still above average. I already mentioned Ty. Top 3 or 4 safety! OMG, WTF? How about- Gap, Smokes, Mckee, Baker, Dangerfield, and Young. That would be 7 and remember we only had 6 teams. And yes, an overrated corner that ate some weak WRs lunches. Above average? He's third best in the league. Gap - Pass defense only. Smokes - Run defense only. McKee - Good. Baker - Retired. Dangerfield - Good. Young - Pass D Only. Here are my safety rankings: 1. Dangerfield. 2. McKee 3. Jordan Allan 4. T'Jay Smokes Okay, we were talking about last year though. Before the ten mil contract and the Baker retirement he was about 7.

No, they have 1 amazing LB, 1 above average, and 2 horrible ones. Surge have 3 elite ones (Top 3 is elite for LB's of their position in my mind), 1 average one, 1 elite safety, and 4 other average-above average CB's

Smith is a one-year renter who doesn't spend any money to make himself better. That makes him better than a rookie... but not by much.
McNeil? Wasn't he like the 12th DB drafted? That says it all, really.

As for the Surge last season... worst secondary among all the playoff teams. Possibly it was the worst secondary in the entire league. John Smith was a ballhawking stud when he played Conway and Lucas... but who wasn't? When he played anyone else, he was a revolving door.
And there's a reason why you had to throw 10M at Jordan Allan. That was a guy with lots of great attributes, but all in the wrong places. Him and Ray Smith made up the slowest safety tandem in the league.
Mark Reid was the only real player in that secondary. That's why you guys got lit up like a Christmas tree by a first-year team in its fourth week.
