Welcome to SportsCenter, I'm your host for tonight. Many more players were signed today, and the Chicago Sharks were the team with the most signees. They picked up T'Jay Smokes to a two year deal with a possible third, Donny Mcilmoyle to a three year deal with a mutual option for a fourth. There is also a rumor that the Sharks have come to terms with Corey Simpson, the first defensive lineman to join the FSL. He was offered a large contract for four years, making seventeen million dollars in the process. The Ohio Thunder's new co-GM, Mike McComas has picked up some slack for the Thunder's seemingly inactive GM. They picked up Tyson Stetson today to a three year deal. The Hawaiian Surge picked up another quarterback today, Ryan Lipton, forcing Trav Man into the backup role. They also came to an agreement with wide receiver Joe Jackson due to the 24 hour rule. The Surge also signed corner back Doc Doctor, and their GM said this about the signings: "It assures the best defense in the league this year, and for many years to come," but the Chicago Sharks GM replied by saying that his defense is just as good as the Surge's. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Los Angeles Explosion were not very lucky today, as they were not able to sign any players. They offered very generous contracts, but the players all decided to play for the Surge or the Sharks. That's all the signings we have for today, there will be more tomorrow.
On the transaction wire, the second trade of this season was agreed upon today, as the Explosion sent wide receiver Allen Miller to the Surge for fellow wide receiver, Adam Manery. The Explosion said this about the trade: "I think this will benefit our team very much, I see high potential in Manery and we could realy use him, he fits our style of play better than Miller does. I am very happy with this trade." The Surge GM didn't comment on the move.
The first game of the season has changed times, as it will instead be played at 3:30 EST, instead of the previously scheduled 4:30. The second game of the season will be played later that night, probably at 10:00 EST.
Outside of the FSL, the Carolina Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals as they defeated the Oilers 5-4 tonight, on a last minute goal by captain Rod Brind'Amour. The second game of the series is Wednesday night.
That's all the time we have here at SportsCenter, come back tomorrow for another edition. C ya!
