Once they restructure the hold out rule will determin your fine ok then... i guess i will decide if i should holdout or not after the new rule is realeased. |

i believe i only get fined the next year salary because i become a free agent after the holdout. so it will be 4.5 fine. The rule never said you become a free agent. The rule said you go into the draft pool, but I think we'll be changing that. If you have a three-year contract, you shouldn't be able to get out of it by holding out for just one season, or a part of one. |

Here's the new rule.
1) Player may be fined, at the team's discretion, a maximum of one game check for each game missed due to holdout. Annual salary/number of games in regular season = 1 game check.
2) If player does not have the money to pay the fine, he will pay it from his own earnings in the following season, if any.
3) Team is under no obligation to release the player until the end of the contract.
4) For unsigned draft choices, players will not receive a salary that season, and will be re-entered into the draft pool following season.

What if the player wants to be signed, but the team won't sign him? Then wouldn't he get punished ofr being selected by a bad team by having to sit out a year?
