I really don't want to be talking about this, because it's over, and because that kind of controversy is not healthy for the league. But I've had a lot of people contact me about those Thunder-Dawgs games at the end of last season, with a playoff spot on the line. They're not all the usual crackpots like Alex, either. But unfortunately, those sims provide a perfect example of exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to avoid here. Let's just take one stat line out of the deciding game: PASSING CMP ATT YDS PCT YPA SACK TD INT LONG RATING Gino DeBomb 11 33 216 33 6.5 2 2 2 52 52.0 This was a season in which I earned performance points for 65% pass completions or more in 6 of 12 games, including the other 3 of the last 4, and finished the season at 63.6%. My least accurate day apart from this one was 52.4% (11/21, 242 yds, 3 TDs, 0 INTs) in week 8 against the Sharks. When you consider that this poor performance came against what is probably the worst corner pair I faced all season, it looks even stranger. Previous games against the Thunder that season were far different: Week 6: G DeBomb: 128.8 rating, 303 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 16/25 64% Week 10: PASSING CMP ATT YDS PCT YPA SACK TD INT LONG RATING Gino DeBomb 28 39 433 71 11.1 2 3 0 75 133.8
Now, if anyone else had simmed this game, week 11 would have been dismissed as a strange statistical anomaly. Shit happens, right? But Mule simmed it, with the playoffs on the line, and that opens the door to speculation. Is there a way Mule could have arranged it for this to occur? Sure. He had the roster files, and a quick modification to my player attributes would have given his team a significant advantage. There's no way to prove that he didn't... and so the controversy lingers on long after I wish it would just die. I agree completely. This would make me suspicious too. But what if you had used my system above to verify the game? Would you still be suspicious? What would you be suspicious of? I don't want to push too hard for this but I really can't identify any problems yet and it seems sad that Thunder never get to see their games video'd. oh, I get it. You did identify a problem even under my system. Mule could modify the player attributes and that wouldn't be detectable. Damn that sneaky Mule.

The Thunder can have their games on Video if somebody else did it but nobody seems to want to do it which I think is a sad thing but if everybody was able to then I think it would get a little too carried away and then it wouldn't be as fun to see. If the thunder win the vote then I think somebody else should do the video sim. It is nothing against Mule but that is a rule.

I think allowing the Thunder to have a video sim earlier in the season against a non-divisional opponent would be a decent compromise. That part of the schedule that would allow for that is weeks 4-6. The Thunder play the Cougars, Surge, and Falcons.

It should be the game that is least likely to make people suspicious if the Thunder win. Assuming we can identify that game w/o hurting feelings.
Also, we should get the GM of the other team to agree to it beforehand to forestall complaining.

Is there anyway that we can go back to simming on youtube? I though it was easier skipping through the huddle moments and watching the sim go went a lot faster. I don't really want to sit and watch an imaginary game for an hour.

I agree with Capt, there is no fool-proof plan. In the Army, we have saying, every time we idiot proof something, the Army builds a better idiot.
Want to know a possible way to cheat on video? It's just like Capt has already mentioned. You can download the roster files onto your CPU. Make changes to player attributes then save. At the predetermined time for the meeting that was mentioned...all he has to do is make the 1 simple change (pink wristband in this case...) and have nothing to worry about.
If I was making changes to anybody...it would be to the nameless O/D-Lines. Make mine stronger, faster, etc...but by 10 points in each area. For the opponent, make them 5 worse. That's a SIGNIFICANT change overall...but not significant enough to be noticed in game.
I might also add 10 points to all my teams awareness and take 5 off the opposing teams awareness. Again...not a Huge change for my opponent...but coupled with the extra awareness my player recieved...that's a HUGE difference. Then it just looks like a game...with the advantage being in my court.
Since we can't watch all of the simmers activites, we have to trust that they are doing the right thing. It is very very difficult to prove cheating...because game logs show stats and sliders...not attributes.
The only possbile way to prevent this is soo annoyingly time consuming...that it's probably not worth the effort. You'd have to manually take over for a few minutes while the video is running and show what all the players attributes are. Then, someone would have to check the attributes against rosters here.
Assuming there are no glitches with getting the "movie" to save/load properly, you'd have a game...but again, is it really worth the effort.
It sucks that CAPT had his worst statistical game of the season in that particular game that Mule was simming...but again, you can't prove he did that. Dan Marino had bad games against teams that he should have destroyed...it happens in real life...it can happen in game too.

With all that being said, naturally I want the biggest game of the week (and my team no-less) to be video simmed.

Dan Marino had bad games against teams that he should have destroyed...it happens in real life...it can happen in game too. Indeed. Since I was the East QB stat keeper and still have my spreadsheet, I can glance at all the QB stats and easily find an example that proves that kind of thing was possible. While Manning and I had very different weapons and playbooks, some things are still the same. And one week he posted: Manning: 61.3, 123 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT, 4-15, 26% Against the Panthers.

the thunder act like they've never seen themselves play before. I seem to remember a Thunder-Surge game last season or maybe even two seasons ago.

I don't really want to sit and watch an imaginary game for an hour. YouTube only allows like 10, 000 KBs to be uploaded at a time so you have to make it up in 10 parts, which is much more slower for Mule I also say Panthers, this is pretty much our best chance at winning, and we've never been video simmed (to my knowledge)

Yeah, I'd like to see Panthers/Falcons this week. Next week would be good for the Thunder to get theirs in against the Surge.
