But hold on. It is patently unfair.

Why did we resim game 1?
Because it was simmed on Madden 05. We all agreed this was problematic.

We did we resim game 2?
Because it had player updates since game 1. We actually disagreed whether this was problematic. But those who argued that it was unfair to have player updates got their way and we had to resim game 2.

So now those same arguments must be applied to game 3. If people who supported a game 3 still believe that player updates are unfair, then game 3 is invalid. If they would like to change their argument and allow player updates, then we can revert to game 2.

But to resim the game because of the updates and remove Thunder updates and THEN to allow Shark updates is completely unfair.

There is a significant difference here, however. A superior kicker can have a tremendous effect on the outcome of the game. But one point to speed for David Manning? No effect whatsoever. The AI on Madden '06 is such that everyone is a pocket quarterback, regardless of their ratings. Manning never ran.

The fair objective policy is no updates. We tried to argue that our kicker didn't make a difference in Game 2 but we were argued down. Now you are arguing that Manning's speed doesn't make a difference. But it certainly could have helped him avoid sacks.

Defining subjective policies and arguing in the absence of any real or true evidence whether various attributes "make a difference" is surely a headache none of us want or need.

Much easier to accept an objective policy which is not open to argumentative interpretation. And I thought we had done this with the "no updates" policy. Now we are back to arguing about what makes a difference. And I'm claiming (with heaps of empirical evidence behind me) that avoiding sacks is much more important than the difference in kickers. Note please that our high school kicker nailed a 50 yarder in Game 3. So there is ipso sum facto that kicker doesn't make a difference.

I agree with you completely, and you present your argument very well. In order to be perfectly fair we need a strict policy, and strict adherence to that policy. Whether I agree with the original decisions to re-sim is moot, actually, because those decisions were made without me. I can tell you that the re-sim decision for the second one was made by the GMs involved, and Mule's objection triggered the re-sim. To be perfectly consistent, we would once again have to subject it to GM approval, and obviously Mule wants another re-sim.

My argument here is based entirely on practicality. We are now in a situation where many players are complaining about the simming rate on this site. I want to keep things fun and entertaining, and fighting and re-simming over and over again isn't either. We have a few more simmers coming online shortly, so the problem will be greatly relieved, but I'd still like to move on with this.

The argument that the kicker had an effect on the game would probably end in a deadlocked jury, but there's no way the argument that one point of speed for Manning had an effect. It's just a much weaker case. Furthermore... we haven't yet gotten confirmation from watchthis whether that update made it into his sim or not. If it didn't, we're all arguing for nothing.

What happened to GM approval in the last case? The third game was simmed before anyone even responded to my objections.

I don't really want the game simmed again. I'd rather it had never been simmed a third time.

I understand that in the third case an objection was rendered by the GMs of the Sharks. As was the case previously, the objection of one team was sufficient to trigger a re-sim.
