Is there another King? Chris King signed with the Dawgs.

It's only fair to go with the team that offers the most money, no?

It's only fair to go with the team that offers the most money, no? No. Pro athletes settle for less money to go to the team of their choice all the time. There's a whole package to consider, and salary is just a part of it. Some questions you might be asking yourself when considering FA offers apart from salary: 1) Is the team a winner? 2) Who is the GM? Does he make good decisions and relate well to his players? 3) What is the team's chemistry like? 4) What would my role be with them? 5) Are the uniforms cool? When I came to the Dawgs, it had nothing to do with money. I first interviewed with the Falcons, but the conversation quickly turned unpleasant. Next I interviewed with the Cougars, but the GM didn't seem very interested. Finally I interviewed with the Dawgs, and flledge and I had an instant camaraderie. After that the two of us sorta conspired to manipulate the draft so I'd end up in Orlando during later rounds, and he made me his co-GM on the spot. Last season we were heavily involved in the free agent market, but everyone we talked to took less money to play elsewhere. This season we signed the two players we wanted, and they had more financially rewarding offers to play elsewhere. I leveraged more resources to attract them than just money. It seems people believe in a 7-5 team more than in a 4-8 team.

Well for him though, he's been inactive pretty much and doesn't know much about the teams, so what better way to go then whoever wants him the most

1.) I didn't just sign with the Cougars because they offered me some nice cash. There GM was the only one who actually spoke to me. Everybody else PM'ed an offer and that was it.
2.) Overlord, if you honestly think pros don't sign where they make the most, you're way off. Look at Edge. Who would want to run behind the Cardinals line? Nobody. So, why do you think he signed there? The money. Only a select few care if they play for a winner, but most sign for the cash.
3.) Serj hit the nail on the head.

To be fair, XY wasn't the only one who spoke to you. I had some conversations with you myself. It just quickly became apparent that I wouldn't be able to afford all three of you (King and Miller being the other two).
Still, you could do a lot worse than playing for XY. If I didn't already have a spectacular GM, I'd consider playing for him.
