In several minutes, the Falcons organization will hold a press conference to make several announcements, make their decision on picking up player options, and will also take questions from the audience.

First off, I would like to inform all of you that longtime GM Camell Clayton stepped down earlier today, leaving myself, Tye Williams, as GM of the Falcons. I would like to thank Clayton for his services both on and off the field, and that he will remain on the team as the Co-GM.
Moving on, I will now address our free agent situation. I made my first move as the Falcons GM earlier today, re-signing TE Alex Banks to a three year deal. I'm glad to keep him around, and we are planning to make him a bigger factor in the passing game this season! MLB Cash Baker's contract expires this offseason as well. However, we would like to hear from him whether or not he wishes to remain with the organization, or to test free agency.
Next, we have several players who have GM Options this season. I will be formally announcing those players, and whether or not their options will be picked up.
SS Tyler Holbrook: Holbrook has been more than a stellar safety for the Falcons since he was drafted in the first round last year, and you have not seen the last of him in a Falcons uniform. We will pick up his option.
WR Deuce Fitzgerald: The spark to our offense, our best playmaker, and a starting WR for the West in the Pro Bowl. We will be picking up his option, and we plan to be in negotiations with Deuce to extend his contract soon!
MLB Richard Smeltzer: Our man in the middle was voted to another Pro Bowl, and has vowed to increase his activity. I show my confidence in him by picking up his option, which will pay him $4 M this season.
OLB Jericho Silas has a player option this year, and has not decided whether or not to pick it up yet. We eagerly await his decision. LB Chris King also apparently has a player option, but he has retired, and his player was never in our player folder anyway. So that's done with...
WR Ra'Shaun Salaam also announced his retirement tonight. We're sad to see him go, and wish him the best of luck in whatever road he finds himself on.
Now I'll open the floor to you, the audience. Any questions?

Was the reason that Salaam Retired that LA wasn't thinking about picking up his GM option? I think he would have stayed

I don't get it. If you'd have been happy to keep your player and remain a Falcon... why not wait until an announcement is made? And if you are released... why not see if you can land with another team?

And if you are released... why not see if you can land with another team? Well My active streak is starting to go down with work and so I didnt want next seasons money to go to a possible inactive player so I decide to retire and create a new player. But I am going to try and try and work different hours so I can be on cause i work 13 hours a day so when i get home i am dead tired i just leave myself logged on...But I know I probably can't Micheal Jordan myself and come back to the falcons if I did could i give up points for next season? But thats highly unlikely

any plans for improvement for next season? If I didn't plan to improve the team, the commissioners oughta just fire me right now! Our main priority this offseason is to continue the development of QB Nat Reay, as our offense will come together once we can count on her to deliver precision passes to our offense. I plan to keep our defense intact, as we really began to play better later in the season. I am hoping that several of our key players will become more active.

whyat positions do you plan on improving the most? I plan to mostly keep the same corps of players intact, although I can tell you that there WILL be a new fullback in Los Angeles this season. Quarterback is where we need the most improvement from this year, by far. If Reay can complete passes, our offense won't be so one-dimensional this season.
