Welcome to SportsCenter on ESPN, the Worldwide Leader in Sports. Today was a big day in the Football Sim League, or the FSL, as the first ever draft was held. The first overall pick was no surprise, as Wide Receiver Reggie Williams was selected by the Los Angeles Explosion. Only two players went undrafted, Quarterback Trav Man and Wide Receiver and Kick Returner J.J. Jacobson. Jacobson has already received multiple contract offers, while Man has only been offered one.
On the topic of contracts, many were signed today, including Williams, second overall pick Boomer Sooner, sixth overall Peter Schust, and tenth overall Ty Summers, just to name a few.
In other news, the Los Angeles Explosion and Chicago Sharks have been negotiating a trade, believed to be involving Chicago's Summers. The deal has not been finalized, but it looks like the second best Linebacker will be moving teams.
Training camp is beginning tomorrow, and the Surge and Sharks have both prepared by purchasing their training equipment for the next five days. Some players have purchased personal workout plans, and have already began to improve.
On a final note, the Season 1 schedule has recently been released. Each team will play a total of nine games in the regular season, and the top two teams will play each other in a best of three series for the championship. The season is believed to begin on Wednesday, June 7th, but that has not been finalized by the commissioner.
