Welcome to SportsCenter, today we'll recap a busy day in the FSL. Although only one official game was played, there was much controversy in this young league. We'll start out with the official game, a matchup between the Ohio Thunder and the Hawaiian Surge. The game began on a nice day in Cleveland, as the Surge kicked off. The Thunder went three and out, and the Surge did the exact same thing on their first drive of the game. On the punt by the Surge, the Thunder returner fumbled the ball, and it was picked up by a Surge lineman, who took the ball to the Ohio 14 yard line. LaDanian Vick started out strong, and continued this throughout the game. He quickly picked up a first down, taking the ball to the 4 yard line. The Surge brought in a computer player, and he fumbled the ball on the next play. The Thunder recovered, and they drove down the field for a field goal, making the score 3-0. The 1st quarter then ended, with the Thunder in the lead.
In the second, the Surge had possession for most of the time. They drove down the field, and LaDanian Vick ran the ball into the endzone for a touchdown, giving Hawaii a 7-3 lead, but that was all the scoring that the Surge would do today. The Surge got the ball back after a punt, and tried to run the clock out, but ended up going three and out. They punted to the Thunder, who drove down the field quickly. A holding penalty put them on the 23 yard line, and Doug Flutie threw a pass to Torry Holt for a touchdown, and the Thunder retook the lead, making the game 10-7. The Surge successfully ran down the clock, and then it was half time.
There were many punts in the third quarter, the only good plays coming from Vick, who continued his great game. Nothing else happened in the third, and the score remained 10-7 in the Thunder's favor.
The fourth quarter was similar to the previous one, with many punts and penalties. The Surge started with the ball, and punted to the Thunder. Garcia took a handoff to the outside, got some open space, and ran the ball into the endzone for a 58 yard rush, giving the Thunder a 17-7 lead and putting the game away. Lipton continued to unsuccessfully throw the ball, and the Thunder forced a turnover on downs, and then kneeled the ball to run out the clock and end the game. The Thunder were very excited about the win, and they are currently 1-1. The loss brought the Surge to an 0-1 record.
On the topic of the Surge's record, a controversy took place when the GM of the Los Angeles Explosion played two players who were not on his team. He had listed WR Allen Miller on his depth chart, although he had been traded for WR Adam Manery. He also had listed Jason Gap on the depth chart, who signed with the Thunder at the last minute, instead of going with his original feeling of the Explosion. The game was completed, yet the mistake was not noticed until the 4th quarter, when Da Bearfan, the simmer of the games, said that "Gap made a big tackle." Although some argued that these two players did not have a large impact on the game, the GM of the Surge, who lost the game 21-0, felt that they could have made a difference. The game tape was erased, and it was not possible to review their impacts. The game is being replayed soon, and it will be the first game simmed by Grimreaper.
On the transaction wire, the Chicago Sharks came to terms with free agent DE Chris King, giving him 11 million dollars over three years. He was greatly wanted, yet decided to sign with the Sharks due to various, yet unknown, reasons. No trades took place in the FSL today.
Week two will be completed today, as the Sharks travel to L.A. to take on the Explosion. The game time is currently unknown, it will be up to the commissioner, Da Bearfan, to decide that. The Explosion vs. Surge game will take place sometime tomorrow, that time is also unknown.
Thank you for watching tonight's edition of SportsCenter, tomorrow we'll have an interview with the GM of the Los Angeles Explosion. Any and all feedback on what you'd like to see in future SC episodes is greatly appreciated. C ya!
