Welcome to the first ever power rankings of 2006. Let's get it started:
1. Chicago Sharks
The Sharks completely destroyed the Surge's defense, throwing for six touchdowns and scoring two more. They beat the Surge 66-24 this past week, with their quarterback, David Manning, earning player of the week honors. It's a great showing, and they are tied for first in the league with a record of 2-1.
2. Ohio Thunder
The Thunder also won their game week three, which is the reason they are ahead of the other 2-1 team, the Explosion. They beat the Explosion this week, 21-14. After a loss week one, they have come out strong with two straight wins.
3. Los Angeles Explosion
The third and final team tied for first at 2-1, but the only one of them to lose their week three game, putting them at 3rd place in the power rankings. They, like the Sharks, destroyed the Surge as well, but that was all the way back in week one. They lost to the Thunder this week.
4. Hawaiian Surge
The only winless team in the divison, they are by far behind the other three teams. They were destroyed weeks one and three, by the Explosion and Sharks, but managed to keep the game closer week two against the Thunder. Hyped to be the best defense before the league started, they have definitely let us down. Although, the new signing of DE John Smith might help with that. Innocent until proven guilty though, or in this case, bad until proven good.
