Round 1 Draft Overview

1.1 Wolves: Ryan Gilden - QB
-I think this was a risky pick. He was not the best QB in the draft. But The Wolves being an expansion team needed a QB bad, so they took a risk on a friend.
GRADE:C

1.2 Panthers: DeSagna Diop - CB
-They have done good to get offense with Mond and Mott. So they wanted to draft a star on defense. Plus with Diops activeness site, this was a perfect pick. Also they will need someone to guard Owens week 1 (lol..jk)
GRADE: A

1.3 Falcons: Tye Hill - CB
-I like this pick here. Didn't really see it coming, but with the loss of star CB Leroy Jenkins there was a big void there. I think Tye and Tye will be a good Corner duo
GRADE:B

1.4 Thunder (from Wolves (from Dawgs)): Nic Perez - CB
-I think this was a big reach, i guess the Thunder are banking on his activeness. Perez should be very active. Which should turn this into a decent pick
GRADE:C+

1.5 Cougars: James Mashore - SS
-This was a horrible pick in my opinion. McNeil and Kropp were still on the board. This pick should have gone to McNeil no question. The only thing Mashore has is speed.

1.6 Thunder (from Wolves (from Sharks)): KJ Bryant - OLB
-I LOVE this pick. KJ is a new member on here, but he built his player very good. He also has showed he will be VERY active. This pick could have gone to McNeil also.
GRADE:A-

1.7 Dawgs (from Falcons (from Surge)): Charlie Kropp - CB
Good pick right here. The Dawgs main problem last year was #2 CB. The #2 WR tore up the game every time they played the Dawgs. Kropp should help that a little.

1.8 Thunder: David Colon - QB
Can you say Franchise? The thunder got there Franchise QB with the last pick in the 1st round which is pretty good. Now they get too get rid of the inactive Flutie, and with Colon's 10 M contract he is already as good.

personally I would have went Colon or Simms, or if you wanted Gilden just wait till the third round. No one was going to pick him.

Simms is active and did good in the Alex Lewis Bowl. Can't believe he went undrafted...

With all due respect, if Simms should have been drafted 2 straight years...then why didn't he get drafted? I'm speculating that there is something else going on (not conspiracy or anything like that) with Simms that maybe us non GM types don't know about. Regardless of who coulda/woulda/shoulda been drafted, he isn't.

xflfan: In the season 2 draft, Simms and Ray Lewis established themselves as friends from previous leagues together. Everyone assumed the Cougars would take him. But Simms took an extended holiday from the site, and Lewis decided Simms had gone inactive. The funny thing is that Simms came back well before the draft, but Lewis never noticed.

The Dawgs weren't going to take Simms because flledge and I hit it off instantly during pre-draft conversations, and he knew he wanted me as his co-GM right away. So there was never an opportunity for him there, except maybe as a backup plan in case someone drafted me before flledge could.

I don't know if the Falcons had any plans to take Simms originally, but if they did, they probably did what they did to me... piss him off. Wilber was handling negotiations with prospects, and they had their choice of all the QB candidates with the 2nd overall pick, but Wilber was handling it very badly.

So that's how he went undrafted in season 2, and it all had little to do with ability, and was definitely not self-inflicted.

As for season 3... there were three good QBs with good activity, and three teams that needed one. The fourth guy was taken first overall.
