Many people like this league, but its obvious we have problems with members staying active. Expect that problem to no longer be an issue in season 2. After the Pro Bowl, the NXFL gets a turned around and re-freshed. The changes for the second season are are the following:
- All contracts are void
- Everyone has option to keep player or retire and make a new one
- One team per division will be replaced by a new team
- All players will be in a re-draft
- All New Freshmeat Mentor System
Void Contracts
All contracts are canceled after the first Season.
Player Option
If you like your player keep him around for the draft for Season 2 or if you don't like your players progression so far or just don't like the position you chose, then retire the player and make a rookie player for the draft.
New NXFL Teams
Season 1 had four teams: Carolina Cougars, Houston Marshalls, Chicago Bulldogs, and the Portland Bears. For season 2, one team per division will be replaced. Chicago will remain the team in the West and Carolina remains the team in the East. That means the NXFL is open for two new team expansions. So if you got and idea for a team, submit it to the Season 2 Expansion Team thread.
Re-Draft
All players, except the four team GMs, will be in the Season 2 Re-Draft.
Freshmeat
Unlooked upon players or players thought to be washed up need someone to guide them through their NXFL career. A frehsmeat player will be a CPU player mentored by a member. Its like a CPU play filling in the needed spots on the team. Much like buying a kicker, the Freshmeat's attributes will be bought as well. He will start all stats at 10 except for Stamina and Injury will be at 90. A team may mentor (buy) a freshmeat with money in their budget. The cost is 1 attribute point per every $100,000, so every $1M is 10 attribute points to add. Once a freshmeat is bought a player from that team must mentor him. As a mentor you can either help him improve or just worry about yourself. When you are purchasing from your contract after you are drafted, you can drop some of that cash for freshmeat to improve a little with a purchase for him. The same goes for in TC, use four days for you and you could use one for your freshmeat. Same works with Performance Points, you get some for preforming well, you can throw some the freshmeats way. One contracts, purchases, and TC are done and its time to start the season, you have three options with the freshmeat. You can: (1)Have him player with your team- gaining Performance Points (2)Have him play in the Minor Leagues- gaining Performance Points at a beginner level, or (3)Have him on the team Practice Squad- gains 1 point per week on the squad.
